Varnish is a content caching platform, which is occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy. It’s a web app accelerator that can improve the loading speed of a website by up to 1000 percent, based on its content. Each time a visitor opens any page on a site that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server if the visitor opens it again. In this way, the web browser request from the visitor is not processed by the web server and the page will load much faster, as the Varnish caching platform can deliver information many times faster than any web server software. The end result will be a considerably faster loading site, which means an improved visitor experience. In case any of the cached web pages is updated on the live Internet site, the information that Varnish saves in its memory is ‘refreshed’ too, so the website visitors won’t end up seeing out-of-date content.
Varnish in Shared Hosting
If you host your sites in a shared hosting account with our company, you will be able to add Varnish with a couple of clicks of the mouse via your hosting Control Panel. The data caching platform is available as an upgrade with all our packages and you can choose the number of the sites that will use it and the total storage space that will be used for the cached content. The two features that can be upgraded in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the number of instances and the amount of system memory and they aren’t directly tied to each other, so you can decide if you want a lot of memory for a single large-scale website or less memory for several smaller ones. You can use the full potential of Varnish if the sites use a dedicated IP. Using the Control Panel, you can swiftly start/restart/stop an instance, clear the cached content individually for each website which uses Varnish or view a detailed system log file.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
Varnish comes by default with all Linux semi-dedicated plans that we offer and you can use it for load balancing purposes. It is available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The Varnish content caching platform comes with 64 MB of system memory for cached data storing purposes and you can use it with any site that you host in your account. In case you need more, you can increase the system memory allowance. The memory itself is available in increments of 32 megabytes through the Control Panel’s Upgrades section. The same section will enable you to add more instances too, in case you would like to use the Varnish platform with multiple sites. The two upgrades can be added separately – you can cache the content of a single large-sized Internet site or use several sites with the default memory allocation. You can take full advantage of Varnish in case you use a dedicated IP address and you can order one with your semi-dedicated plan as well. The Hepsia Control Panel will grant you total control over the caching platform and, with no more than one single mouse click, you’ll be able to clear the cached data, to view a system log or to restart an instance.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
All dedicated servers which are ordered with the in-house developed Hepsia web hosting Control Panel feature Varnish, which is one of the pre-installed platforms that you will get with the dedicated server. The Varnish caching platform can be activated and managed with no effort via Hepsia’s easy-to-work-with graphical interface and, with no more than one click, you can see a comprehensive system log, create or reboot an instance, delete the cache associated with any site and much more. Shortly after you enable Varnish for a given domain or sub-domain, it will begin caching the pages browsed by your website visitors and as soon as it has cached enough content, you’ll witness a substantially faster website performance and a decreased load on the dedicated machine. With Varnish-dedicated memory starting at 3 gigabytes, you will be able to use the platform for load distribution purposes even if you host an enormous number of Internet sites on your dedicated machine.
