Spam Filters
Find out more on spam filters - exactly what they are, the way they work and how to set up one.
Most email messages sent around the world these days are spam, i.e. unwelcome messages with different offers or with hyperlinks to malicious software. Not only are such emails annoying, but they also pose a threat to your computer, not to mention that you may be tricked. That is the reason why numerous mail service providers resort to spam filters, which are software apps that monitor all incoming emails and filter out the undesired ones based on their content – what words or phrases an email message consists of and how often they are cited, what website a certain link redirects to, what outgoing mail server the email is sent from, etc. Certain companies also rely on the databases of spam-detecting organizations devoted to the provision of the most up-to-date information about undesirable emails, to ensure that their clients won’t get any email message in their mailbox that is not supposed to be there.

Spam Filters in Shared Hosting
If you get a
shared hosting plan from our company and if you take advantage of our mail services, you will be able to enable spam filters for any of the mailboxes that you create from the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. With only a couple of clicks of the mouse, you can select between five separate levels of safety. In case you start getting spam, you can begin with the lowest level and then slowly boost the level till you stop getting spam. We use one of the very best and most famous filters available on the market called SpamAssassin. It checks the header field and the body of each email that you receive and calculates a spam score, based on which it either deletes a certain message or permits it to reach your inbox. The Hepsia Control Panel will also permit you to set up custom filters and either eliminate unwanted email messages or forward them to a third-party email address like spam@domain.com where you can read them again at a later time.

Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you use a
semi-dedicated server package from our company and if you set up one or more email addresses with any of the domains hosted in your account, you will be able to enable the advanced, five-level SpamAssassin filter that we offer and keep all unwanted email messages out of your inbox. This service is accessible through the Email Manager section of the Hepsia Control Panel and it can be activated or deactivated for any mailbox whenever you like. You can also adjust the security level with several clicks if junk email messages still reach your mailbox or the spam filter starts removing legitimate messages. As you can choose if the spam should be deleted instantaneously or redirected to some other mailbox, you can create spam@domain.com, for instance, and check all filtered messages there, so as to make certain that you won’t miss an email that you need. The email messages that the anti-spam filter permits to go through will still be received in your mailbox.
