An access log is a complete list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain site. Every single file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have one webpage with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the 6 files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the page. A log usually provides the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. Sometimes you could also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of a website, besides the web stats your hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your
shared hosting account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the
domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you'll see a download link along with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantly, so if you don't need one, you could stop it with only a click from the exact same section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already created content by clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you have a
semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than a couple of clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature may be enabled from the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this can be done independently for every single domain name or subdomain which you have within your account. When you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. A single click shall enable the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great simplicity. A Download link inside the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, which you can then use on your personal computer. Even when the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
